The BCS system is a little convoluted, I'll admit to that. If they adopt a playoff system, I think it would be counterproductive, unless you can keep the bowls, too. There would probably have to be at least three extra games, given the fact that you'd have to include at least the top eight teams in a playoff tournament. If you extend that to the top ten, with the top two earning a bye (which would probably be the most popular way to do that) there would be four extra games for most of the playoff teams. This wouldn't be worth it for many reasons: the football players would be worn it, without any bowls schools would lose money (not to mention television, advertisers, and the cities and businesses in and around the bowls); college football would lose a lot of entertainment without the bowls; and finally, with a playoff system there is only one winner, with the bowls there are many winners. The game is indeed better and, I think, more fun with the controversy of the bowls. I would rather play all of the bowl games, and just championship game with the top two teams, and let everyone argue about who the best team in college football is. Let's leave well enough alone and don't fix something that's not broken.

It's an extremely physical sport - 13 games is enough - they are not pro's - they are students. I love college football - just because Team X wins a playoff (ie March Madness) - doesn't mean they are the best...so leave the bowl system alone....a little controversy is fun.

The BCS has been beat up so badly, if it were a prize fight, the Ref would have stopped the fight long ago. The BCS lost all credibility LONG ago through it's own membership. Besides, in most every other major sporting type in the U.S. (pro and college/at all levels) there is a bonifide playoff system. D-I Football is the only holdout. A playoff system is soooooo overdue it isn't funny. There wll be some winners (most all college football fans) and some losers (most BCS Bowl businesses), but overall the real winners will be the players. This way they will KNOW at the begining of a given season that they ALL have a title shot!!
