the question would be easier to answer if the Federal Government was streamlined and cost effective. Until reasonly we paid more for a gallon of milk than a gallon of gasoline. then the oil rig blowout in the Gulf and that misshap was sensationalized and blown all out of porportions.. As the Government later admitted the oil spill was to quote their annology was akin to spilling a can of beer in the Astro dome... But politics is politics and those in power want us too embrace Grean energy ( just how your going to move your R.V on battery power is beyound Me. As for the tax break that is a typical business deduction for depreciation of goods and R & D (read exploration) it easy to be envious but your 401 k is more than likely funded by oil company profits (By the way those profits are about 8% compared to 76%profit on your I pad'

I agree with both SueB and Wandrin. America's infrastructure is is in terrible shape and needs to be maintained and improved. We must also realize that the future of fossil fuels is limited and we may have already reached maximum output. We need to invest in what is to come next. It will probably be a mix of greater efficiency, hybrids, electric vehicles, solar, hydrogen, and biofuels.

Bad idea. Road and highway bridge maintenance needs to be done. Those federal fuel taxes get distributed to the states for maintenance -- as well as new construction.

All subsidies and tax credits should be eliminated -- regardless of the payee. Subsidies to make fuel out of corn is a very bad idea.

Congress should immediately and permanently stop the $20+ Billion subsidies to all oil industry companies. They are making record breaking profits!

Congress should also seriously consider regulating gas prices again to prevent oil companies from taking advantage of their power over the market.
