I think the Interim Superintendent should be someone with great management skills. We don't need him or her to come in with any "ideas" because they will only be there 6 months to a year.

I agree with gnell - someone who understands urban issues is a must. If a school doesn't have a strong parent support group, it HAS to have a strong teacher group who has a unified vision for the school and the students. It's hard for those kinds of groups to take hold in DISD for a variety of reasons, but we really need that.
I also like Cindy Van Winkle's idea, and would add that someone who could help build long-term support for DISD in the Dallas business community would be great as an interim super.

We need to go outside of DISD for both an interim and permanent replacement for Superintendent. The shortfall in the budget needs some fresh eyes, and a new plan.
Lets give everyone an opportunity, what about DISD’s District 7. Trustee candidate, Louis Tranquilino Trujillo.
Listed below is why he received my vote:
"I have campaign for this DISD Trustee district 7 seat since 1998, as I believe I believe that I have something of value to offer."
I have lived in this community for 36 years, I understand the views that parents and students and we as taxpayers. I understand that the community would like to see a change in a more positive outlook.
I attended DISD, as well as my wife and my son currently attends Booker T. Washington High School.
I believe in a strong solid education that is the key to success being involved to ensure that every child has a fair chance at success in providing the basic building blocks that are offered in our DISD. My wife and I have only one child, and he is currently attending Booker T. Washington high school, also attended Townview- pre-school, Lida Hooe Elementary. and W.E. Greiner Jr. High.
My current civic involvements are St.Cecilia Catholic Church Financial Council member from 2003- present, and Knights of Columbus Member 2002- present; My accomplishments are:
Lida Hooe Elementary SBDM Chairman 1999-2003
Sunset High School SBDM Member 1999-2001
W.E. Greiner SBDM Member 2006-2008
St.Cecilia Catholic School Advisory Council 2002-2004
Dallas Appraisal Review Board Member 2000-2005
Kidd Spring Recreation Center Advisory Committee 2003-2007
Oak Cliff Lions Club 2006-2007
Oak Cliff Kiwana Club 2001-2003

The interim or next super should be someone based in the reality of what being in an urban classroom today is truly like. they need to understand the lack of parent support we actually have and that a majority of students today are not that interested in being in school and that they have a true effect on the other students. Teachers do not need someone who looks good for the media giving them pie in the sky rhetoric when those ideas wont, don’t, and can’t work in many of the schools. We are no longer teaching children of 30 years ago that valued education because their parents did.

If anyone on the current Administrative "team" is picked, they will be a puppet for Hinojosa wherever he is. Please get new blood from outside who has no contact with those currently in power. Get some people who will take care of replacing Goodsell, Jones, and all those other lame duck appointees of Hinojosa.

Find someone inside DISD who is respected by their management, their peers and their direct reports who can listen, make decisions, remain ethical and be consistent. There are a few such people in the district. The nepotism, cronyism, politico-gamesmanship must come to an end if DISD is to move forward.

We need a non-DISD administrative look at this district and its problems both as the Interim and the next Superintendent. Perhaps we'll find someone with the guts to clean out that top tier of Hinojosa left-overs.

All of the above have been indoctrinated with the hinojosa crap. We need someone ethical and unbiased, someone that will not tolerate racism, nepotism and political appointees.

We should go outside- check out those rural superintendents who do ALL the work without a massive staff! Some of them even teach in addition to their superintendent responsibilities. They are far more qualified than our current collection of "candidates."
