I disagree with the last two. Violent acts are not always about power themselves. They stem from anger. Violence is very reactionary, if someone beats someone elses ass it is not always about someone gaining an upper hand on them (power). Think of it in the sense of war. In war people aren't raped in lieu of attacking a town, the town is destroyed then to totally humiliate the population the attackers rape the people who lived there. Its a show of force and power that proceeded the violence. I've had the unfortunate opportunity to work with many ex-offenders and a common motive was an opportunity to overpower someone after they believe it had been taken from them at some point before.

Rape is about both sex and power. I hate when people say its just about power. If that's all it was then a simple violent attack would suffice. The attacker receives a sick sexual gratification with the mixture of both violence and sex.

Rape is all about power. Not sure if it is seeing what you can take from a person or that you feel so entitled that you feel everything belongs to you anyway.
