"Papa Doc" was a dictator whose horrifying practices unleashed a reign of pain, suffering and deceit upon the Haitian population. He caused a "brain drain" in Haiti, where many intellectuals left the country upon realizing that his rule was cruel and unjust. The country has still not recovered from this loss. His practices of voodoo and corruption of the Catholic faith were highly questionable (he changed the Lord's Prayer, "Our Father", to read "Our Doc"). Perhaps not the worst dictator when compared to the likes of Stalin and Hitler, but horrible nonetheless - during his reign, barely anything changed for the poor people of Haiti.
