what difference does it make, all city personel get away with murder anyways!!! it does not matter what anyone says!!!

This smacks of elitism under the thinly veiled guise of security! If an elected official cannot live among his constituents as they live, then it is time for them to seek other work.

The Mayor is supposed to ensure that City laws, codes and building regulations are enforeced -not side stepped.

If the Mayor is afraid to live in Hancock Park at public expense, then let him buy his OWN home with a wall already around it, at his own expense.

Alternatively, fix up a suite for him at Twin-Towers. I hear security there is not an issue at all.

I just installed a 6 ft block wall around my property however in the front, I had to put in wrought iron and do not have privacy from my neighbors.

Why do I have to only have a 4 ft wall and the mayor can built a 6 foot wall around his property????

If he is concerned, get dogs!!!!

If I have to obey the laws, then he should too.

  • He does not want a fence at the border so No !!!
NO Wall for his personal Sanctuary to keep him safe from his imported Criminals that wreak havok on the Legal Citizens of L.A. and CA. Tony Villar can live with what he promotes !!!

Tipicle California thinking. Build a wall around your house and it will keep the bad guys out...NOT. I work security. It will not work and will give a good location to hide in. It would be cheaper with the lawsuites and other problems to MOVE. Buy a house with your own money that will suite your needs and not degrade the value of local houses. Good luck in the elections next time when you ignore the local people that vote on you. Oh, by the way, Is he going to repay the city when he is not reelected for home improvements that no longer help the city and violate local law?

I'm no fan of this guy, but telling a citizen - especially a public figure - that he can't build a 6 ft. wall is ridiculous.

  • Pete - 13 years ago

    It's not a wall, it's a border fence.
Slick puke in a Gucci suit flying his "cousins" around in the city jet.

This guy is a joke. LA is a sh!thole.

  • rammrodd - 13 years ago

It would be better to see him swinging at the end of a 6' rope than behind a 6' fence...

Typical, arrogant politician who thinks the rules are just for you and me. Thanks for the votes, suckers!!

  • Carl - 13 years ago

Why does it matter? Its a wall around HIS mansion. Let him build the damn thing and move on with the news. Its something minor in the grand scheme of things. He hurts no one by building it around his own property.

Who is Villaraigosa afraid of - besides his EX-WIFE? Hmmm?

I know this midget has a super overly inflated sense of self worth and a MASSIVE ego which contrasts with his jockey sized body - but really, who cares that much about Tony V.?

Interestingly - with the wall at six feet - it'll be 7 inches TALLER than him. Ha.

He's a public servant. Why should the servant be more protected than the sovereign citizen they serve?

  • Angry American - 13 years ago

Tony Villar is the personification of the hyper-ambitious politician; vain, egotistical, arrogant, and poll-driven. He has embraced the the supporters of the Reconquista movement and the demands of illegal aliens who vote for him while ignoring the needs of the taxpayers of L.A.

Building a fence around the mansion (mansion? He is a mayor, for Pete's sake!) just illustrates how out of touch, and perhaps just a little paranoid, he is with his real constituents, the taxpayers.

So right Mr. Logical. Bas akwards thinking of the Mayor. Let crime run rampant and build a wall, generational heritage thinking from instilled cultural values. Build da wall senior and get the ak 47's out.

  • MrLogical - 13 years ago

Thanks to the criminal environment that he's fostered under his tenure as mayor, he'll need to erect an 8-foot fence topped with razor wire and broken glass to achieve the protection he seeks.

Hey Watchful eye, got any extra room where you moved? I would love to get the heck outta here too.

I assume Hizzoner knew where his house was and what deficiencies it may have had when he ran for office.
Just another bum who thinks that he was not elected to govern, but to rule.

  • Ron Reale - 13 years ago

He should build it as high as he wants...and so should all the other citizens! If he feels he needs that wall for security, he should not be able to deny, through zoning laws, anyone else the same piece of mind.

I don't understand why officials feel they are above the law.

If you cannot build a wall around your house in your neighborhood, then why should taxpayers use their money to build a wall around some mayors house?

Do you honestly think that if somebody wanted him taken out a 6 foot wall would stop them? It sounds like a nice place to commit a crime. There is a wall there to block anybody from witnessing it.

As broke as California is, they can afford this huh?

Probably use undocumented workers to build it.

  • Jefferson - 13 years ago

Nice to know that the mayor is such a man of the people.

  • Palmer1943 - 13 years ago

I assume that everyone that lives in "Sanctuary City Central" will be allowed to build their own 6 ft tall fence in defiance of local zoning ordinances. Just make sure that when the attack begins to not ask if they are American Citizens. It's good to be a Mexican in Los Angeles, another law that does not apply to Mexicans that applies to the rest of us.

  • Watchful_Eye - 13 years ago

I feel sorry for you guys in California. I left there 12 years ago to get away from the idiotic democratic nanny state ideas - build the stupid wall, and keep him inside.

  • Pg - 13 years ago

The "elite" make the laws, us peons must obey. HLS also recommends checking the diapers of kids and 95 year old grandmas. I say build this wall on our borders, as far as I'm concerned following the opposite of what Napalitano wants is better for this country

  • Legal Citizen - 13 years ago

When California builds a wall at the border with Mexico, then I will support a 6ft wall around his mansion, TO KEEP HIM IN.

  • eb - 13 years ago

Give the robbers and home invaders access to this prick's house just like everyone else in LA that are not allowed to build walls to protect themselves.

  • Curt - 13 years ago

I totally agree. If they have issued a security warning, he should follow it. If he doesn't and something does happen (God forbid) what will the knuckleheads say then.

  • notamuslim - 13 years ago

The article clearly says the Mayor is following the advice of the Los Angeles Police Department following it's review of the Homeland Security finding. We hire these professionals and expect them to tell us what we need to know why is it a problem when someone follows the advice given?
