Even with the questions skewed to encourage an affirmative answer, it still results in an almost two to one result against this plan. Imagine the results if this were a unbiased poll. Please stop taking your readers for idiots.

I am a Korean Veteran and a retired telephone worker. Most people my age, if they paid attention to where the cut-backs were made, or attempted, should realize than over those years, these deficit-cutting plans directly or indirectly affected BOTH groups. It has been my experience that the VETERAN and then the RETIRED are the first ones that must make yet ANOTHER SACRAFICE FOR THE GOOD OF OUR GRAND COUNTRY.
It seems that those that are making the rules, reductions and laws that we are all required to live by, are most anxious to reduce OUR quality of life, just so long as THEY are exempt from these rules, reductions and laws.
SOCIAL SECURITY IS NOT TO BE USED IN ANY WAY OTHER THAN DISTRIBUTION TO THOSE TO WHOM IT BELONGS. NOT TO BE USED TOPAY OFF THE NATIONAL DEFICIT. LEAVE IT ALONE; IT DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU!!!
I suggest that the White House go back to the table with the 'Gang of 6' and make their "deficit-cutting" "grand bargain" a little closer to reality. How about everyone pay the same percent of income in taxes? Abolish all the hidden TAX WRITE-OFFS that more and more that have above average income enjoy. Adjust the pension plans of those who serve in politics to a more realistic and budget affordable benefit. Veterans have served their Country for four years also, and at great risk to life and limb, do they get a sizable pension FOR LIFE??? Let EVERYONE help support this Grand Country. Lighten the burden on those of us that have been at the HELM ON WATCH since the 50's.

When are they going to stop borrowing from Peter to pay Paul? The Gang of 6 don't relie on SS and Medicare because they get theirs from us. Those people don't live paycheck to paycheck because they live off the fat of the land (us taxpapers). I say disolve the whole Senate & House along with the President and start all over again. They are nothing but a bunch of morans and I am putting that lightly.

This compromise plan that they (Gang of 6) are proposing shows nothing but contempt to all Americans. Again these government clowns are just punting many of the most difficut issue leaving congressional committees to fill in the blanks. Even if you take the $1.2 trillion figure of higher taxes it would take decades to reverse about 3/4's of the 2011 deficit. As one representative said " a tax increase in the wrong policy to pursue with so many AMERICANS out of work.
