The stoner design using air blown into the chamber instead of a forward operating rod is fundamentally flawed for military ops. Every time I ran out of a CH46 I knew if I pulled the trigger I'd get one round off before the whole system jammed. Give me an M14(forward op rod) or a mini14 or an AK for that matter bottom line is the gas return system needs to be done away with for an oprod design. Heck while we're at it why not get a more balanced round? (heavier??)

It makes little sense to change ANY mass weapon system without a major improvement. Between the Seletric typewriter and the PC word processor EVERY brand of typewriter was superior to the IBM because they used spin wheels. A huge improvement to the ball. Big companies didn't change because change is expensive. IF the PC wasn't clearly on the horizon they would've changed, spin wheels are that much better.
The Army sees the future and it ISN'T a competing 20th century technology.
