Circles are just compartments so you can separate contacts from each other. Your work contacts can's see your party contacts etc.
Problem now is low adoption keep checking in and inviting people it'll get better with age ( I hope)
Someone tagged me, so I signed up. Messages appear on your phone, a cross between IM and texting: a little intrusive and weird; I don't like it. Yet, anyway.
