My husband and I both grew up at different ends of Lancaster County, PA. We went to different schools and both played duck, duck, grey duck on the playground.
It's called The Tar Pot in Finland. The first one who goes round, leaves something (like a twig) on the ground behind one player's back. The player must run the circle towards the twig leaver.If the player doesn't notice the twig,he/she will get to the tar pot in the middle of the circle.
I used to play this game at the parish's summer camp at the 80's.
