@edward: Not a fan of "periods" are you? Like those CAPS too, huh? What a rebel! You seem really, really smart!

I am on dialup and will be for the foreseeable future, so streaming video was utterly useless for me. The split actually reduced my costs since I no longer have to pay for a service I cannot make use of. Also, the annoying instant viewing suggestions and buttons have been removed for the DVD only interface.

Netflix should have split the two services much sooner. What started as a somewhat experimental option grew, and subscribers felt they could get DVDs and also stream 24/7 for 'free'. TANSTAAFL.

Last summer I cancelled our netflix account. Outraged family members coerced me into resubscribing to the dvd service. Maybe this time, I can be more persuasive, especially since there ARE more options. (I should have seen this coming, when I found the ipad app didn't function--even for browsing titles--for dvd-only subscribers.)
