We idiot children will likely have our machine gun(s) within a few years. (cf Ehrlich). Cheap and plentiful energy will start a long new economic development cycle, world-wide, and resolve almost all the other problems along the way. It will even pay to dispose of the corpses of the "renewables" economic roadkill, starting with wind and solar 'farms'.

Small (ultra-)hot fusion; scientific proof due this winter. Actual licensed manufacturing within 2-5 yrs, world-wide. Prices 90-95% below best current North American. Waste free, direct generation, no steam turbines necessary.

Keep your fingers crossed while holding onto your hats!
