I believe that they must have to much time on there hands. Priorities are all messed up. Health care, education. the poor and lots of them. How so you expect people to respond to this issue of beaver vs polar bear. If that is all she would like to change get yourself another job maybe you could work at The Bay. I feel that there is more better things our hard tax paying dollar could go towards. Like giving to the people who are disabled and the seniors of this country who helped build it. Stop taking away from the hard working people and start giving back.. Get a life and stop the insanity

The Senator doesn't seem to be very well attuned to Canadian history. Or maybe it's just a case of sour grapes. Eaton's major competitor, the Hudson Bay Company, whose early history joined it at the hip with the beaver, is still a going concern but Eaton's is long defunct.

I'm with the majority. Why can't the senator look at spending our tax money on finding a way to help the poor in our country. Is there on respect for the decisions made hundreds of yrs ago by our ancestors who setteled this country. I don't understand why these people have to change everything that makes us Canadian. Eh

I think the Maple Leaf as a symbol is more recognizable than wild animal, as a Maple Leaf is from most of our regions.Beavers are a destructive animal to habitat and a polar bear symbolizes cold weather region,lets get the world to better know our country.

Why doesn't the government do something worthwhile if there is $$$$ to spend on ideas
like this, will they now start a task force to do a study on why the national emblem should be changed?? Just a suggestion -- maybe they could sit down with the Justice Minister
and go over policy, sit down with the Parole Board of Canada and start working for the
victims of crimes instead of making sure the offenders "rights" aren't violated.

Really don't know what this country is coming to......Why don't you just leave the beaver alone........But then we do have to give the ppl who is doing this some kind of job don't we......I agree with all the comments.....He needs to resign like NOW....So sad..... :(

The beaver has a history of why it is the national emblem the senate should educate themselves about it and respect why it is and was made to be the national emblem in the first place, because to change it would disrespect that decision made many years ago and the reasons it was made. Doesnt the senate have more important issues to look at changing besides this, come on wasting our tax dollars on these senators, maybe thats one of many things that should be on their agenda to look at changing.
