I've been reading first pages on FtQ for years and I must admit that this one is among the best, if not the best, I've read. The writing is confident and accomplished. But more than that, the opening promises an unusual, unpredictable story. I want to read on. I don't think it needs anything else on the first page. It's strong enough that the author can keep some surprises for later.
