I support the ASPCA monetarily each month, and it is my understanding they are currently trying to foster relationships WITH pet stores, to sell rescued dogs that have been taken care of through them. I I don't know where this pet store owner from Wappinger Falls is getting his information from, but I do intend to email the ASPCA and ask about the concrete flooring. My current rescue Lab has scars on all his "elbows" and bendy places because he slept on concrete and the dampness wore away the fur. My veterinarian confirmed this. I found him on Petfinders.com. He was shipped up from Texas, after spending 4 months in a foster home there. God bless the women who work in junction with them in Connecticut, as I was able to "meet" and evaluate my guy before I made a decision to adopt. I can't even LOOK at pet stores...knowing so many abandoned creatures need owners too.

Thanks for informing the public about puppy mills, and stores that get their animals from them. No self-respecting breeder would sell their puppies to such stores - real breeders find good homes for their puppies. People should stop and wonder why the breeders listed on the cages in the store are all from states far away from NY - there is no chance you could go and personally inspect the conditions! Websites can deceive, so no one should rely on that venue to check on conditions. The best pets are rescued pets! There should also be a law that all pets (unless from a real breeder, not a mill owner) be spayed or neutered, thus ending all the unwanted dogs and cats that are needlessly euthanized each year.

Thank you for helping put the spotlight on these stores! The only way to put these people out of business is to make the public aware of the deplorable conditions these poor animals must endure. The laws are way too lax and need to change!! There are many animals in shelters that need a loving forever home so people please ADOPT and don't purchase!!! no matter what breed you are looking for...I have been blessed with two of the most amazing shelter dogs and would never consider purchasing! You can volunteer at a shelter and get to know the animals and if you are lucky, the right one will pick you!
