I've read lots of posts by agents about this. Some are really, really adamant that authors not post a word on their site because the excerpt could be viewed as 'published'. However, there are many other agents/publishers who say that it doesn't matter, but if the novel is picked up by a publisher, the content will need to be removed from your site.

The only place both sets of agents tend to agree when it's okay is when you are posting your chapter/excerpt for a critique on a critique site. As you are seeking help with your novel, then they don't consider this as 'published'.

    Great poll!
