The NFL is a highly competitive business of what have you done for me lately. You gotta make the payoffs & win Super Bowls this year - not 5 years ago. There comes a time when all of us grow older and have to make room for the younguns. Many are simply incapable of admitting & acknowleging when that time has come and someone has to make it for them. This is the case with Ward. I have the utmost respect for what he's accomplised & contributed. But, the time for him to step aside & celebrate his past accomplishments has arrived.

Hines has proved that he is a great player. He has been with the Steelers from the beginning. Isn't it only fair that he should retire with the Steelers? He's strong and fit. I say let him stay.

I definitely think that the Steelers should keep Heinz Ward. He is still a great asset to the team as well as a wonderful leader and teacher for the guys who are taking his place. He is a true Steeler and always has been. I think it would be really sad if they let him go and especially because it's all about money and not about what he has given to the Steelers over the years. It's a shame what this world is coming to-all concern over money and no concern over what a person has done in their lifetime. Heinz has been great and I know if they let him go, I will miss him and I will be very unhappy with the Pittsburgh Steelers organization.

I think we need to keep him for one more year...hes done a lot for us...I say lets release him under a good note in the name of the superbowl...lets make it one more year to the superbowl for Hines Ward...whether or not we win or lose...where still there...hes still there....win us a superbowl Hines Ward...where counting on you...

Hines Ward is a big reason that the Steelers are 6X Super Bowl Champs and not
4X Super Bowl Champs! Hines Ward is Steeler thru and thru. If he wants to remain a Steeler....hope they can work it out. It would be great to see a guy that put his heart in soul into the team, retire as a PITTSBURGH STEELER!
    Here We Go...STEELERS...Here We Go!

Hines has been a consumate professional, great leader and from what I've read a great teammate. I'm glad he played for my favorite team. But he turns 36 this year...the Steelers are $25 million over the salary cap and could really use that roster spot for a person who not only will play special teams but will potentially be on the team for years to come. This is simply a business decision. When Hines held out of training camp a few yrs backin order to show his frustration with his contract...that too was a business decision. Emotion has it place...but not when it comes to assembling the best 53 man roster.

Hines has proven that he can do it all. I still don't think he was utalized enough in the playoff with his routes. He can help the young receivers learn. Restructure his money and let him retire a STEELER.

The 1st consistent receiver since the 70's...what do you think? But even more what is the organization thinking? Hines wants to retire a STEELER let him.

Hines Ward has represented the Steelers with dignity, hard work and integrity over the years and the franchise owes him and the Steeler Nation a dignified Hines Ward Steeler retirement without his having to beg for it! The Steelers used to be my second favorite team for many years, behind the Dallas Cowboys, until the very day that the Cowboys forced Tom Landry out. From that day forward, I've despised the Cowboys franchise for their disloyalty to such a fine man. Should the Steelers do the same thing to Hines Ward, I would seriously reconsider whether this franchise appreciates men of integrity, loyalty and inspiration to this nation's youth and would most likely transfer my rabid fanaticism to the Packers (my long-time second favorite team).

Let him finish out his contract at a lower pay scale. Then higher him on as a receivers coach.
Don not make the mistake you made with Franco.

I think Haines Ward should be aloud to finish out his career with the steelers, he has given 150% of himself everytime he plays and he is still a GREAT PLAYER.

Hines is part of the soul of the Steelers.

Hines Ward is what the steelers are all about, hardworking, loyal and family man,and his family is being with the steelers. Hines ways are not taught , its in his genes, so Mr Rooney please let him share some of those traits, with your new receivers and watch the receiving core be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your most loyal fan, mike montalvo
