I suspect that most of the people voting have never seen Gone with The Wind. Being almost 70 Ihave seen it many times and only seen the Return of the King once. I would pay to see GWTW again but doubt that I would pay to see the Return of the King again.

I love Gone With the Wind, but the messsage of the Return of the King is more universal. It is the ultimate victory of good versus evil. There are three groups, all battling evil: Frodo and his friends, the earthly kings and their armies, and the "mythological" characters. Weaknesses are vanquished in Frodo with the help of his good friend(s), the kings and their armies respond to a higher calling and all the evil forces are defeated. In the end the "immortals" sail into the sunset. Of course, everything else in the movie, including the scenery and special effects, is fantastic! No wonder it won so many academy awards.

Besides the greatness of the movie, Annie Lennox closing credits "Into the West" was enough on its own to validate the production.
