Not within organized groups, but I do bring a bag with me on walks, and stop to pick up trash & recyclables. Since there's a whole lot.

And to Betty, I say: What happened to everyone taking responsibility for our trash!? I certainly hold onto my waste and dispose of it properly (as I assume you do, as well - doubt you'd comment if you were a perpetrator c:), but there are certainly far too many people that are still seeing the world as their great big garbage patch. On my way biking to work I find a myriad of trash: starbucks cups, mcdonalds & BK bags, planters, plastic bags, and hundreds upon hundreds of cigarette butts. On my walks I usually need two bags. Far too much waste isn't being recycled, but instead tossed out of car windows at 50mph. As though that absolves them of responsibility... As though holding onto the damn frappucino cup for another 15 minutes until you get home will kill you. >:(

[Though I agree, it'd be a great for those serving time to get outside and contribute to society in a meaningful way, cleaning up highways and the like. I wasn't aware they stopped doing it. I find that plenty of residential areas are filled with garbage on the streets, and I feel that's the responsibility of the neighborhood to tend to, as it's their trash. Hence, I grab some bags, and hit the streets myself.]

    Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
Grab a bag, go for a walk, put in your 30 minutes. It'll make a difference. One person at a time.

Is it me? Or is the garbage on the side of the road worse than ever ?? What happened to the criminals cleaning this up? Instead of allowing a 3 course meal, cable, education, and everything else for free, why not put them back to work on the streets!!!!????
