You can't force money out of an empty wallet , most of the unpaid bills are from the FAS/FSM citizens who use GMH as a clinic for everything and anything the ails them , from colds to rashes and the seriously in need . How are they going to collect from someone with no income ?
And those with insurance will go the new hospital or off-island for treatment . It's time to shut down GMH and renovate it then start from scratch ,
Add renewable power to help in operational cost , make it a greener less costly building to operate, " effeciency". As long as Gov Fuam doesn't deport all those FSM/FAS convicted citizens we will always be throwing away money and will never get control of it.

Statistically more of those with insurance will visit GRMC for the medical purposes versus GMH. This means GMH will attain a higher percentage of those uninsured/self pay. This also means that collections will be an issue, and while GMH may pursue more collection efforts, realistically it would still be a challenge as there are no positive changes in increasing insurability in the near future.

This is the opportunity for GMH to consider attrition measures to reduce their employment numbers in non-critical areas. Political pressure must be put aside if the hospital is truly to survive financially.

With GRMC open, GMH will take massive blow to finances. GRMC came into this new. GMH has been debt weighted for years and will continue to do so, as time goes on. So medically and financially it will fold against GRMC. Hard to swallow but that's the facts.
