I was privileged to work with DC Emergency Response on a recent large event. Their planning was detailed and impressive and the personnel cool, calm and professional. If I were a betting man, I'd bet that every incident mentioned by others are in a book with an action plan prepared and ready. I am confident that they are prepared.

Having said that, I think that as individuals and families we should consider our own responsibility to be prepared. Having some cash on hand if the ATMs are down, some extra food on the shelf and a plan for what you would do if you couldn't remain home and more are all prudent things to consider. I'm not suggesting we all be peppers but we've all seen the effects of Hurricane Sandy, for example. We all need to take some responsibility for ourselves also.

I agree with Bon, we are perfectly fine here in Dutchess County.
Indian Point radiation could never reach us, Tornadoes cannot cause any destruction in a mountainous area, ISIS would be massacred if they ever created a huge presence in The U.S.

With my late husband sadly gone from my life I do worry about things like tornadoes and winter storms, Indian point blowing itself up or even those dirty ISIS fellows coming to town. Marc Molinaro hasn't addressed any of these issues. Why doesn't he have a weekly fireside chat like good old Franklin and talk about these things? Where has the community gone?

Our country lacks gas stations that are able to distribute gas in an emergency (no power) situation and no way to get home heating oil out to people. Also power to ATMs so people can withdraw cash.

If there were a plan of action for residents of Beacon, N. Y. I wouldn't know which way to go.
Someone needs to put together a plan of action and mail it to all resident's in this town and surrounding city's and villages.
SENIOR CITIZENS such as my self would need help. As I am partially handicapped. Please help Beacon Residents!

    What about us SENIOR Citizens???

Arnold must stay awake at night because some of these possibilities are absolutely outrageous! Dutchess County is in fact ready for any realistic emergency

No! What if a dirty bomb exploded in Poughkeepsie! Or Ebola came to the the food court of the Galleria. You have complete choas. Would the walkway over the Hudson be a place for the survivors to go? Why hasn't that been thought of? Do we have enough armored vehicles to defend ourselves from ISIS? Would the MTA be running? Would Cuomo finally admit the lottery is rigged? I just don't know.
