You can't blame the schools for out of control children; this starts and ends at the feet of the parents who are having children without taking the responsibility of RAISING them. If your child is running the streets, being disrespectful, and engaging in criminal behavior, that is not caused by the teachers or the police force, both of which have to deal with a problem created in the home. It is time for the parents to take the responsibility for training their children how to become active, prosocial members of the community and the only way for that to happen is for them to take an ACTIVE role in their lives.

This city needs a major overhaul. That includes fixing the city schools where I feel a lot of problems stems from. There is no accountability there. The students are allowed to disrespect the teachers, administration and other students and with this it overflows into the streets of Poughkeepsie. More police aren't going to help. I have lived in this city for almost 50 years and it makes me sad to see what it has become. I wish I knew how to solve this problem!
