At $72K, we are not getting the service we need. Village roads are in disrepair, grass are practically taking half the road, yet no regularly scheduled bush cutting. The vice mayor is in charge of pot hole repairs and bush cutting, but even after calling the office, still no results. Aren't the Mayors making huge sums from the Dededo flea market? What happened to unaccounted for funds which were under the Mayors purview? If the mayor staff are too busy, might as well contract the services out like they do for Marine Drive, Harmon Loop road and other places.

I am appalled with our governments/Mayor high pay increase!!!.....Look at them, all overweight, not helping out our good people in our island, we have families struggling to make ends meet, living pay check to pay checks and what is our government/mayor doing? BBQing, feeding their fat bellies and laughing all the way to the bank....I don't see the Mayor's or governor helping our people out. We need the Fed's to investigate all of these scandals, liars! I rate these MF'rs an F! We need Educated folks and by all means Retired Veterans to be the Leaders of Guam! Yeah, I left Guam 1980, now retired Army! Chit I can make a better Mayor and make a BIG difference to help out beautify our villages/Island.. But we have Greedy PPL, all they want is money, where that leaves our families? BROKE!
Guam's mayors did not deserve the super huge salary pay increase that they recently got.

I can only speak of Mayor Robert Hoffman. The village of Sinajana is one to be proud of. I live in Yona and a registered voter of Sinajana . I was born and raised in Sinajana and go to St. Jude Parish. I love what Mr. Hoffman has done and is still doing for the villagers. Very generous even to visitors. Halloween and Easter events are held and open to all kids from anywhere. What he puts out and gives out are signs of genuine generosity. Not cheap, flimsy give-aways. Robert and Rudy are AWESOME. They are worth more than what they get paid. Come visit Sinajana and see for yourself. They answer the calls of their villagers immediately.
72K annually gets you a grass cutter; a mayor that operates a riding mower in shorts and slippers, while smoking a cigarette. Not sure, what our does "Transparency?" and the blame game, its always: Its not my fault, my hands are tied, we don't have the man power, let me get back to you and on an on an on. But, we tolerate poor performance, because he's a nice guy, he's doing okay, he's my brothers, uncles, cousins, nephew, friend and he really is a nice guy. Besides, we are catholic and we shouldn't judge. 72K its not about the money....its more about a Mayor doing his job!!!! and not strolling around the village looking for a poker game!
I recall recently Senator San Nicholas wanting to cut Mayors and their staff's pay.
Definitely not worth a $72k annual salary. Some do good, others are blah. But none deserve that hefty salary. Vice Mayors positions need to be abolished for reals. Also, mayors don't need to be traveling, so cut their slush fund and wasteful sister city adoption programs.
mayors seem way overpaid for the service they provide , seriously , go drive around your village see all the same problem areas that hasn't changed since ever since , what exactly do they do ? The bare minimum ! But they sure know how to throw village fiestas/parties, lol.
Oh and senator Blas if you have beef with the Japanese go complain to the Japanese consulate and not Washington D.C ya dummy !
