General rule of thumb is once a piece of information is relayed in a newspaper that information is at least years old- and that's the case here. It's been at least three years since I was told by doctors that 'we don't do that anymore' - i.e., give paper prescriptions for the patient to hand-carry. You are asked which pharmacy you use (so you do have your choice) and they call or email the prescription in. It seemed a plus to me because it meant that by the time I got to the pharmacy the prescription was ready.

But, a paper script in hand that you could send elsewhere" could save you hundreds, if not thousands, a year depending on you prescription coverage.

    Shame on the USA.
