Our children do not seem to be the priority with the Union. They never advocate for more time with kids but for less. It's ironic because their job has to be about our kids and yet they only value their vacation time and how soon can they get off. If the department of education made it clear that all schools will be dismissed at 12:00 daily, they won't fight it. I would like the union to fight for our children's education rather than their personal self interest. Furthermore, They need to think about why they went into the education profession. I'm sure Many teachers don't believe in the union's vision and their approach to the tackling the problems in our children's education.
Unlike @Really most of us are bred , born and raised here and pretty much know Guam's culture , being Chamorro and Guamanians I think shortening school days are a bad idea and to place the responsibility on the parents to educate them at home would raise the question why do we need schools and why do we need educators ? Perhaps @Really is a public school teacher and just wants extra days off . Tao Tao Gagu Hao !
Lazy , Lazy and just plain Lazy
I believe FESTPAC will be a great cultural education in itself. This is not something that comes to Guam for hosting every year. Why not take your children out and learn more about Guam's culture. I am sure that IF your children miss any class time, it can be augmented at home. At least it should be. Parents are THE PRIMARY source for educating, rewarding, and disciplining their children. I know because I take my role as a parent for 3 children very seriously.

Do any of these teachers or DOE executives or even the stupid teachers union feel education for our children is of any importance ?
every year it seems more and more days are lost from the public school calendar . Priorities are backwards in Gov Guam .
