Yes make them idiots pay. Have you ever just watched drivers drive, it's like every two cars that ride by 1 car a driver is doing something with their cell phone. Pay attention you'll notice too. Now how can that be safe driving if eyes are trying to be on the phone and the road. Have people wear camera glasses and just drive around with a partner and write down licenses plate numbers and the time of all the fools that's on their phone while driving. its best to have a picture of it for proof. Also have regular people gather license plates and pictures too and give them a small percentage of the fine when the driver pays the fine. It could be called "My job of saving lives" I'm sure many would perticipate but they'll need picture proof and time and location of the incidents. And if the drivers are spotted on their phones at multiple locations then they'll just have a lot of fines to pay. Most likely they're gonna lose their licenses thou
I think to much is put on money to stop bad behavior. why not just take the phone from people, I think that will wake them up more so then a fine.

This law was never designed to stop cell phone use behind the wheel. Texting and driving isnt really simething you can police.. Yea they'll get a few people but thats not what the law is for.. This law was created as a tool for law enforcement officers to give them probable cause to stop a vehicle they believe is suspicious. Law enforcement does not have the man power to police cell phones use behind the wheel.. However if they see a car in or leaving a high crime area and they believe that that car may be involved in some illegal activity they will use the driver being on the cell phone to initiate the traffic stop ...If pOlice cant find anything at the point they'll most likely let you go.. Without a cell phone ticket..

Fines should be TRIPLED.
And cops should take their phones away from them on the spot and make them go to retrieve them at the police station after they have paid their fines !!
That would work !!
P.S. it's amazing the morons who submit their polling as "I DON'T KNOW" !!??

Yes maybe even triple it. People are killing people while texting , surfing web and talking on cell phone. Remember when car phone came out. And after getting caught 2 or 3 times license should be revoked for 1.5 years. I bet they'd stop then when they have to take the bus to work.

fines doubled, not only for drivers but start fining jaywalkers to many times I see people not using crosswalks get stuck out in the middle of the street standing cars zooming by on both sides pedestrians should be accountable also.

Read about a Delaware House bill that would double the penalty for a first-time offense for driving while texting to $100 and set the fine for each subsequent offense at $200-$300 at the above link.

Fines for use of a cellphone while driving should be MORE than doubled, and points added to one's record at first offence. Most important, though, is that the law should be strictly enforced. Too many police just drive right on by, perhaps too busy looking at their own screens.
