what ever you think is best for our ISLAND, then that's what we should do.....DRUG FREE ALWAYS THE BEST.....

In GovGuam, when you say drugs it covers all categories. Alcohol is a drug as well and it is more of a danger to use than the other drugs. It kills when it comes to alcoholic use. In my opinion

I think all companies should do a random drug test once every month!

  • JoeRag - 8 years ago

How about lawmakers introduce a one time drug test that is required to be taken every two years and the drug test method to be the hair folical test. Number one reason for the test is so that drug users in Guam Government can be caught and there will be no doubt. The number 2 reason to use this test is that it can be used to pin point the drug use down to the month used and the type. This alone will keep criminals out of the public Goverment system at every level and then eliminate the life time abusers. The test is $1000 and it is 99.9% accurate so no doubt will be left in the minds of those of us who already think and know that Guam Government is more than 90% corrupt already!

Just to clarify my last comment "I can attest to this because I'm one of those affected by this ugly drug!" I'm a family member affected by my son's addiction.

  • Julie - 8 years ago

I see drugs on our island to be an epidemic! It's affecting so many people from all walks of life and although law enforcement officials are doing their part in trying to stamp out crystal meth, it's never going to happen. I open up the paper daily to read someone arrested for possession or distribution. There's always that "one bad apple" or shall i say "a few bad apples" in the system allowing illegal entry of drugs in our ports. As long as that continues, the problem will never go away. There needs to be stricter punishment for dealers, well-trained counselors and effective rehab programs for the addicts. It's very sad to see the users waste their lives away and destroying their families. I can attest to this because I'm one of those affected by this ugly drug!

Senators - introduce/pass a bill that requires mandatory annual drug testing for ALL GovGuam employees with ZERO TOLERANCE. 1X, 2X, or 4X a year I don't care....just find the funding and get it done!

You pop....YOUR'E FIRED! No Civil Service appeals, not rehab process, no leave with or with out pay....FIRED! Let me reiterate~ F-I-R-E-D!!!! it's not such a hard concept to understand. That is what we call ZERO TOLERANCE in the private sector. GEEZ.

You make bad life choices/decisions, you pay for the consequences. They are adults. Not children to be coddled and cooed into law abiding public servants

I guess it depends what goverment agencies are involved but, in reality they all should be tested . But of course our goverment has a big problems about drug issues.

  • Rose - 8 years ago

Drug testing should be to all government of Guam employees randomly. Do not limit drug testing to health professionals (nurses, doctors, midlevel providers, etc.). Look at the two employees from DPHSS, THEY ARE NOT HEALTH PROFESSIONALS, THEY ARE ADMIN STAFF. If money can be found to fund different activities, THEN DO IT!

  • duh?! - 8 years ago

Yes there is a MAJOR problem. Need to start from the Governor's office on down. Oh, lets not forget the Attorneys who abused drugs and were disbarred (remember MP?) and now appear as "consultants" to senators and other GovGuam Agencies. Something fishy on this island. Yes, it does STINK!

  • rachel - 8 years ago

I believe only some govguam people are taking drugs not all.i think govguam should do random drug tests on the employees.

  • Dutarte - 8 years ago

Let's just start privatizing the prison system! Just keep the cages filled! Nobody cares about these druggies! Once that get's going, we make fat & sugar illegal and start throwing fatties and diabetics in the cages with the druggies! What a money maker!!!!

Beyond epidemic! Who brings in the hard stuffs? PEEPS WITH MONEY AND POWER. Who in Guam has money and Power ... Well look around the rich elitists folks. All government agencies should be highly watched by the FEDS! It's the cancer beyond stage IV while our politicians who in this to proffer look the other way. Solution: plant moles in every agencies and businesses to rat out all involve. Si RAguon Sr.

There are eyewitness who are residents of Talofofo who have witnessed and who have knowledge of the Talofofo Mayor's staff using and selling drugs and the Mayor doesn't do anything about it other than let them work at night or keep them out of view from the other residents.

It shouldn't come as a surprise that a GovGuam employee is in trouble over drugs and she won't be the last. Its systemic. Everyone needs to get involved. We need all the resources we can to stop this from getting worse. We need programs to keep people away from these drugs and more substance abuse programs to help abusers off of it. Of course the local and federal government need to do more, but we also need family and community members to step-up.

I think.these government employees who are in use of drugs are using their agencies postal to receive their drugs cause they know that the government agencies dont get searched unlike their personal home postal service....... THE government should do random drug testing at least four times a month...... to all government agency including the leaders of our island.......

  • Gov Guam Employee - 8 years ago

    To all the Government Leaders,

Take action NOW!!!!! Please remove these so call druggies from All Government Agency...There are a lot of well deserving people who have applied and were not hired because of the Politricks, in the Government Shame on you who let this happen And God is not sleeping he will weed out all who chose Evil over GOOD...........

What happened to GovGuam's "Zero Tolerance Policy?" on illicit drugs?

  • Howling Wolf - 8 years ago

Of course ! there is a drug problem throughout GovGuam Agencies.
It's always been there in the past and up to the present.
Crystal Meth or Ice is the main problem .

We need someone like the Mayor in the PI ,Duterte Harry to clean up house in GovGuam agencies.
