Guam roads are not safe. First, roads do not have adequate lightings. 2nd the roads old, need to fix the pot poles, and redo the lines. When they first bid the roads out, it was given to the lowest bidder, who made cheap roads. There should be some standard that they all should follow. 3rd most roads dont have enough dpace between road and the curb. And the middle islands are built too close to the toads. 4th the concrete poles are obsrtucting pedestrians as well as placed too close to the road and without guardrails around tbe poles like in many states and other countries. And lastly the strertlights and signs need to be fixed and lights need ti be readjusted and calliberated. Like the U turn sign in front of Carlos Heights needs to be placed back to No U turn before another accident happens, and traffic lights in Tumon, Barrigada and elsewhere needs to be reprogrammed. There needs ti be no right turns
At certain intersections, such ad the right turn into Micronesia Mall heading north, after the Wendys to allow for a smoother traffic and perhaps change the uturn at the traffic light to no u turn so the lanes can still remain threr lanes going north. Rught turn into Tumon at the traffic light in front of Horizon Condos should also be changed to right turn only going southbound. I am sure there are many other places that can be fixed to better the flow of traffic thus lessening the stress for the drivers. Grass needs ti be cut too
And Trash neefs to be picked up on the sides of the toad and Dead animals needs to be picked up too instead of leaving it to rot. .... Overall, we have a stressfull and dangerous roads here on Guam.

The people are more dangerous than anything! I agree with Bob. A local purposely tried to sideswipe our car last week and he tried to slam on his brakes in front us even though we weren't tailing and it was a red light. He was upset because HE sped up and almost ran into us when we signaled and were getting into the lane next to us. He knew we were getting over and continued to speed up. I will never understand people like that. He was so pissed off that he purposely put both of us in danger. He sped off and was going in and out of traffic without signals. Do people really have driver licenses here? Witnessed two bikes driving like idiots-swerving in and out of lanes-between cars without helmets. Also, some lady pulled out from a street onto the highway and started to get over into my lane like she didn't even check if anyone was there. I've never had so many almost-accidents in my life.

Some roads are in need of repair but the main problem are the drivers. We have slow drivers on the fast lane, drivers who think just because they signal they have the right of way, drivers that don't signal when turning into driveway/road/street, drivers who don't have a clue where they're going so they slow down on a major road. drivers who text while they drive, drivers running red lights ...... you get the idea.

With surge of the new App Pokemon Go, the frequency of locals who play pokemon has increased a lot! I don't want to jinx it but yes, our roads are not safe and speed signs can only do so much. There isn't a priority for sidewalks on Guam when you see most areas and it's really saddens me how we have to risk walking on the road where there is no sidewalk! even walking to UOG there's no sidewalk till you get to the mid part of the campus.

The posted speed limit is the only reason I voted somewhat safe. Do not agree the solution is citizen vs citizen with a "reward" for filming the violation. I do believe a reporting mechanism should be in place and should start by citizens reporting those drivers in GovGuam and U.S. Government licensed vehicles who are exceeding the speed limit. Too many times I have been passed while doing the speed limit by a school bus loaded with children. Too many times I have been passed by a federal vehicle between Piti and Big Navy going 20 MPH over the speed limit. Drivers of those vehicles can easily be identified if the government entity is properly maintaining logs on who has a certain vehicle at a given time. This suggestion is not to pick on government employees, however those drivers should be the absolute last to be exceeding the speed limit. If an employee feels he/she can drive an official vehicle without regard for public safety, that person probably does the same if not worse with their privately owned vehicles.

Remember that the roads are built with coral rocks. When it rains, the roads become real slick and dangerous. Drinking while driving is not a good combo. It's common for most of the Chamorro's to drink after work and then head home drunk.

I herd that Senator say we need Guam Government to spend money to put cameras on street lights to stop people from running red lights. What was that guys name again? We have roads that are far below safety standards where the speed limit is 35 MPH and according to the Guam drivers hand book the maximum speed limit is 45 on only two routes. I have yet to see a day that went by where I saw a police officer out there enforcing the law more two times in a day.

We all of the Tax payers need to pay for cameras like we need a hole in the head.

What needs to be done is that drivers and various individual tax payers need to go out and buy their own cameras, have their system approved by someone with the power to certify their cameras and have the people as the drive down the road take video. Give the power to the people! Then turn the video over to the right pre-indetified authority. Stand their with that authority go over the video with that law official so that the law can prevail and the right thing happens.

A ticket can then be written and sent out. If that person chooses to fight the ticket you give them that chance in court just as it normally happens. When they lose they pay a fine and 50% of that fine is paid to the person that took the time to do the job that the police claim they cannot do now. You give them the ammunition and the tools that make their jobs a whole lot easier.

This saves tax payers millions and everyone gets what they really deserve!
