Im reading all these comments and laughing about how everyone who is chuukese keeps saying how their are worst crimes than what they committed and WHAT, you guys knowing the outcome of the crimes you committed, so why do it, it is what it is crimes= deportation you get it now so don't do it.....

Gov Calvo just trying to save face after giving himself that raise, even with Guam in financial trouble. However, I do agree with this deportation process he has going on. My fellow chuukese need to understand the priveleges we are given under the Compact. We are out here to better our lives. Calvo just trying to do what he feels his best for the safety of his people. its funny though how some people get butt hurt and angry about the crimes that chuukese people commit, like drink and fight or disturb the peace, beat up cops, and they go on a rant cussing and labeling every chuukese as dirty lowlifes. I'm sure there are worse crimes that chuukese people have committed as well. And then we get reports of our fellow Guamanians trying to smuggle illegal drugs or raping little kids. Then we got newspaper and media outlets sometimes instigating matters by not telling both sides of a story, like that incident with the cops getting hurt at hemlanis. They only reported the cops perspective, but what about the residents who were there? They saw the whole thing. Im from chuuk, I've lived here my entire life. Guam is a great place full of welcoming people, then we have these bozos who talk all this dirty unkind things about chuukese or other ethnicities, they commit stupid crimes, but I know that like every other race-->there's always some bad apples but that doesn't necessarily mean everybody is bad. Maybe everything I've said is irrelevant or whatnot, but I'm just exercising my freedom of speech. Do I think Calvo's recent deportations have been conducted fairly? Yes I think so. I just don't like all these bad comments that my fellow Micronesians are making. But then again, they just exercising their rights as well.

Foreign citizens committing crimes on Guam soil should not be crying discrimination when handed their punishment, harsh or not. All is perfectly justified. However, as a general rule and with common sense, labeling an entire ethnic group with a certain stigma does very little to curb out violent crimes as we all are aware Chamorus and other ethnic groups commit just as much crimes as others. Identifying the root cause and finding a solution is the way to go. Deportation for foreign criminals is certainly the first step. Maximum prison time for Chamorus should also serve as a step in the right direction

Do what you must Gov. Calvo..these people may never understand your reasoning..do it for the rest of us and that includes all race, groups, ethnicity that lives by the laws, respecting the laws and depending on the law to give order and peace..we all know you are doing it for the safety and security of everyone and that is every race in this very island (Guam)..ignore the rest that wants to cry a different tune..

Since everyone's putting down their thoughts here then I would like to give some of mine too. I'm from Chuuk and I'm proud of that. And I agree 100% to Gov Calvo on his decision here. Since he's trying to find peace for the people of Guam and everyone's that live on Guam, I think I can support him for that one because every leaders wants peace and they may have different solutions for it. So to my fellow Chuukese or FSM citizens, we should also help Gov. Calvo to come up with some solutions. Why not bring it up to the leaders of Chuuk States or the FSM this matter so they can try and find some solutions. Since, the deportations stared, I have been wondering and thinking how our leaders or the Gov will handle this situations. I mean don't blame Gov. Guam for what happened because it's their government not ours but at least voice it to the governor of the Chuuk states or yet, the president of the FSM. All in all, I say, heads up Gov. Calvo, for trying your best to better your government. And thank you for giving our people a better life here on beautiful island of Guam. I also thank you for giving our government some work to do. And to defend my people, this will go out to those that say, CHUUKESE people don't have respect. I mean come one, if you want to see respect then go to our islands and learn it. Because where I come from, respect in not something to be learn, but it's something within our nature because it is our culture. You grow up having it in you, you just have to live it out. It is who we are. Well, I think this is enough for now. Thanks!!

The poll asks, “Is it fair?”

IS IT FAIR most criminals are afforded a hearing while a singled-out few are not provided that constitutional right?

IS IT FAIR some criminals get to go fishing in beautiful Chuuk, while other criminals do hard time in jail?

IS IT FAIR Trump vows to deport ILLEGAL Mexican immigrants legally, while Governor Calvo deports LEGAL Micronesian immigrants illegally?

IS IT FAIR you can't vote for Donald Trump even though you think just like him?

IS IT FAIR you talk and look like an Illegal Mexican immigrant?

Nothing in this world is fair.

SO YOU PEOPLE ARE SAYING THAT GOV. CALVO SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE FSM PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY'RE DRINKING AND ATTACKING PEOPLE ON GUAM AND THEY CANT DO SO BECAUSE ITS NOT THEIR HOME ISLAND? AND SO FOR THE CHAMORROS ITS NOT OF A BIG DEAL FOR THEM RAPING, CHILD ABUSE, SEXUAL ARASSMENT, MURDER ETC..BECAUSE THIS IS OUR ISLAND? I BELEIVE IM MORE SCARED OF OUR PEOPLE THAN I AM OF THE FSM PEOPLE (CHUUKESE) BECAUSE SOBER OR NOT..THEY WILL DO IT. BUT FSM (CHUUKES) , I KNOW NOT TO GO NEAR THEM WHEN THEY ARE DRUNK BECAUSE THATS WHEN THEY ARE DANGEROUS. SO CHAMORROS ALSO WANT FSM PPL TO LEAVE BECAUSE THEY ARE TAKING ALL UP SPACE IN SERVICES? I ALSO BELEIVE THAT CHUUKESE ARE HARDING WORKING PEOPLE. WE SEE THEM EVERYWHERE. THEY ARE THE ONES ACTUALLY CLEANING OUR ISLAND. THEY ARE THE ONES FARMING THE FOODS WE BUY FROM FARM STANDS OR MARKETS. THEY DO APPRECIATE US WELCOMING THEM ON OUR ISLAND. BUT EVERYBODY HAS THEY OWN MENTAL ISSUES TOO. TREAT THEM FAIR LIKE THEY WERE YOUR OWN PEOPLE. CRIME DONE ON GUAM IS NOT ALL FROM CHUUKESE. EVERY ETHNICITY HAS DONE CRIME. THERE ARE WORSER CRIMES THAT NEED MORE ATTENTION IN PUNISHMENT THEN THE CRIMES THESE CHUUKESE ARE DOING.

TREAT THEM FAIR LIKE THEY WERE OUR OWN. FAIR PUNISHMENT!!

  • It's about time - 8 years ago

They are more trouble than they are worth. Sucking up all the services that needy Chamorros are turned away from.

  • john - 8 years ago

I would also like to add to what guamgal is saying that our crimes are worst than chuukese, and that the "SO CALLED GUAM JUSTICE SYTEM IS POOR). First of all your people came from almost nothing, you guys come here supposedly to make your lives better given that we accepted you people into our island MAKES US RACIST dude come on if anything I don't even think your educated enough to know whats going here..... talk about drug addicts you make me laugh I mean look what just happen today your people just beat up a man down in hemlanis apartments .... wow even after the fact they know what the consequences are (REALLY)?????

  • keith - 8 years ago

GUAMGAL & ISLANDGURL FIRST OF ALL PLS STOP USING FAKE PROFILES. SECOND THE MICRONESIAN CRIME RATE IS ALOT HIGHER, LIKE I MENTIONED EARLIER THOSE PEOPLE ARE HERE UNDER A PRIVILEGE UNLIKE US CHAMORROS THIS ISLAND IS OUR ORIGINS SO WHAT GOV CALVO IS DOING IS RIGHT. I FEEL LIKE I AM GOING TO VOTE FOR HIM ON THE NEXT ELECTION ALL BECAUSE OF THIS AND EVERYTHING ELSE HE IS DOING OR OUR ISLAND THANK GOV. CALVO BIBA....

  • guamgal - 8 years ago

I believe what our gov is doing is not right!! I understand the reason for this deportations, but it isn't fair. Why? Because NOT only chuukese people are committing crimes. They should all be punished equally. I mean which crime is worse? Fighting && drinking or sexual harassment, child abuse, raping little girls, home invasion, robbery, drug addicts, stealing cars? Look at the GUAMANIAN crimes because its so much worse than what these chuukese people are doing. You should focus on those kinda crime more! Drinking n fighting? Just arrest them. No need to deport, cause thats all the crime they commit drinking n fighting. They're not the ones bringing harm to our island its our own people of Guam. Like the man who killed his wife over burned rice. ITS PATHETIC!!!!!! I don't like what you people are doing. You guys are looking down on one culture who's crimes are not as bad as what our chamorru people are committing. && also the lady who stole that mans car. She got released? Really? You guys released a crackhead? She stole the owners belongings in the car n ripped up his car from the inside n you guys let her go???? WTF is that?? See why I mean? Y'all racist! Can't believe y'all deporting FSM immigrants for drinking n fighting n yet y'all releasing these motherfuxking drug addicts stealers etc. Smh! Guam justice system is poor! You guys suck at what your doing!

SAVE TAXPAYERS MONEY.....NO DEPORT. NEED CAPITAL PUNISHMENT....I SUPPORT OUR GOVENOR
ALL THE WAY ON THIS MATTER (DULALAK PARA Y ISLAN YA) ....I'M A DEMOCRAT. WELL FIRST OF ALL YOU GUYS TALK ABOUT HAVING RESPECT YOU DONT EVEN KNOW THE FIRST THING ABOUT RESPECT. YOU PEOPLE ARE GIVEN THE PRIVELEDGE TO BETTER YOUR LIVES BUT YET TAKE IT FOR GRANTED AND STEAL,RAPE, BEAT UP A 79 YEAR OLD MAN (NO SHAME) WHO IS PROBABLY A FATHER/GRANDFATHER OR HUSBAND. SO (NOW) YOU TELL ME IF YOU (PEOPLE) DESERVE TO LIVE ON THIS ISLAND OF CHAMORROS.....

  • Jay - 8 years ago

I don't agree with everything Calvo has done but with this one I do. It should be common sense - before you move to a foreign place, understand and learn the culture and what is expected of you. Don't ask for respect when there is no respect given to those cops who were attacked or when a drunk is caught trying to break into someone's house and sexually assault them.

This has nothing to do with being part of Micronesia so we have to bend over backwards to accommodate criminals. Guam's people has truly gone above and beyond - providing education and health at the cost of stretching limited resources. So the least the members of ANY community can do is BEHAVE and FOLLOW THE DAMN LAWS. No one is exempt.

  • SUNGI - 8 years ago

CREATE BLUE COLLAR LABOR CAMP. NEED DISCIPLINING. CREATE ROADS, CLEARING JUNGLE AND CUTTING GRASS. DO NOT TOLERATE THESE THUGS. THEY WILL CLAIM RIGHT FOR TO RE-ENTER GUAM AND WE CAN SEND THE TO FORCE LABOR CAMP FOR THUGS.
IDENTIFICATION CHIPS FOR CLASSIFIED PRISONERS. WHAT WE DON'T KNOW THAT OTHER COUNTIES WITH VIOLENT OFFENDERS ARE IMPLANTED WITH IDENTIFICATION CHIPS IN THE SPINE.

  • Islandgirl - 8 years ago

What happened to our culture of helping out or fellow brothers and sisters? How would you chamorros like it if the president said the same things about us. Chamorros are not allowed to enter the states again. Or we are not contributing anything to social.

  • Islander 2 - 8 years ago

What's not fair about it ? The idiot convicts criminal sentences were commuted by volunteering to leave off-island and return back to their's with the understanding that they are not allowed back .
Isn't that the deal Gov Guam gave them ? If anything it's too damn lenient and generous . They can always go to Hawaii or the Mainland right ? If it were up to me I would send all convicted FAS/FSM citizens back and relieve the stress on our prison population and DOC officers it will only equate to positive outcomes .. Public tax money will be saved , DOC prisons will be less congested , less crime on our island , and a little piece of mind knowing it's just that much safer ..
Governor Calvo is doing the right thing regarding this issue .. I don't agree with most of what he has done as Governor but when it comes to this issue I want to give him a big hug and a pat on the back " atta boy " . Lol .... Thanks Gov Guam !

  • Jayson Chutaro - 8 years ago

The government and people in Chuuk don't do shite to raise good morals. Their justice system is so back asswards and they spend all their compact and federal funds in corrupt leaders. Gov Elimo is a fat slob and just bribes everyone with food to vote for him over and over again.

Chuuk voters there and in Guam need to raise or chose someone who is serious about making changes to this problem. Stop electing do nothing leaders. If Mike Sam Nicolaas likes Chuukese so much then he needs to show it by getting his so called Chuukese friends to elect better leaders who don't take advantage of us here in Guam or the money going to Chuuk either.

I'm Chuukese and my family too. We are tired of those from our islands who make us look bad. Good job Gov Calvo. Send tose bad ones back and get Gov Elimo to do his job threr.

  • wake up - 8 years ago

Always FSM....so why didn't the lady that ran down the 3 young girl's and died, did not get deported. Wake up government you're missing a page.

  • Peter - 8 years ago

FSM should reach out to their citizens and educate them about simple respect for other people. It starts with some kind of community program to inform about expectations and consequences in a common society like Guam when harm is committed to other citizens. I was told an offense (killing) in Chuuk can be exonerated when the offender (killer) offers a live pig to the victim's family. This will not work in Guam and if you cannot conform to the expectations in Guam and harm others then the best choice is your removal from Guam. Every citizen should contribute to the common good and not be a burden to society.

  • Amy Garrido - 8 years ago

I congratulate and than you so much for what you have been doing. It's about time someone like you
have the nerve export them which is excellent for Guam. Hoping other migrants have seconds thoughts
before getting in trouble with the laws here in Guam. Again thank you so much for trying to make Guam
    a safer place.
