Vetrano's stats speak for themselves MVP!

What I mean by competition is completion within the class. CHSAA I think had a lot of teams that had any team beat anyone at any time making it very difficult especially around playoffs. I'm not saying AA has better teams necessarily, pleanty of class A teams beat AA teams I'm sure and likewise for class B, but the competition in AA was much intenser this year among top teams (top 8) where as other classes I feel had clear front runners (2-4 teams) for almost the whole season. Obviously that changes with playoffs and players on this list showed that rankings don't mean much. However, I think emerging to the top of the class in AA I feel was difficult given how close all the teams were, so this was meant to compliment how Attonito lead his team to the top. Again same could be said about Vertrano in his playoff run when it mattered. That was just a small point i feel was misinterpreted from what I meant. In terms of just stats however yes Vertrano was the best, but baseball is a game of more than just stats and I feel that's being overlooked when determining an MVP.

I have been following high school sports for numerous years. I think all 4 candidates are talented and deserve recognition. I believe that classes are separated by the size of the schools and not by the talent of the members on the team. Class A has played many games against class AA through out the season. I just verified Lakeland’s schedule to make sure I had my facts straight and they played the AA section champions Clarkstown South and won a very close and competitive game proving that class AA is NOT “far above other classes.” As far as stats are concerned...I think the numbers speak for themselves and ultimately pick the MVP. I’m sure all of these boys played with heart but MVP is based on stats. Lakeland #12 seed and Vetrano took their team to the state finals winning the section, regionals, and semi finals. I don’t normally weigh in on polls, however I felt the need to give my opinion after reviewing the stats on all candidates. Congratulations to all on your extraordinary season!

Attonito has been a consistent player over the past two years and is constantly overlooked. All state 5th team as a junior and put up amazing numbers this year. Competition in class AA is far above other classes. If anything I'd argue Bello had the hardest schedule with the CHSAA being the most competive in all of New York. Attonito is only around 5'10'' but is the one of the most feared pitchers in section 1. He lead his team to a Westchester best in section 1 record and number 2 ranking in the whole class. On top of that he had a near .400 batting average. Another overlooked factor is that he is the best outfielder in the section. He is a top defensive threat who can cover the entire outfield if he was given the task. Add on tremendous speed and base running, he is the complete package. He is the only player on this list who is superior at every level of the game, whether it's pitching, hitting, or defensive play. Attonito shouldn't just be mvp because if his measurables, but because he never looks for the glory. He doesn't care about the hype, he cares about winning and making connections with his teammates. If you want a true mvp beyond just size and stats, but in heart, Attonito is my pick. (This is all just my opinion every player hear has shown they are good enough ball players to be chosen as mvp)

Wow...seems “STRANGE” that Attonito scored over 600 votes in a few hours...may want to look into that
