This narrow sided move is another blow to the family farm. The move will eventually impact upon 1500 families here in Essex county. Thank-you OLG . By the way Paul Godfrey is also on the board of the owner of this paper. I believe its time for a newspaper boycott. Good luck postmedia. At least Windsor slots was profitable where I cant say the same for newspapers.

I cannot understand what are goverment is doing. Why don't the goverment concentrate on other issues before adding more burden on us single parents. Our goverment should focus on DEAD BEAT PARENTS who owe a large amount of money to parents who are trying to raise there children already why add this burden to us now . Our goverment should worry about other issues in hand before creating this mess. Dwight Duncan needs to look at these issues of methods of payments for these parents to receive supports payments owe to them and not allow that person who owes support be allowed to collect welfare. So why damage more families and allow for this casino to close, and more families out of work . This liberal goverment sucks and some one should step it up and remove the useless power.........

No I certainly don't agree with OLG closing the Windsor Raceway slots!! People go there for a variety of reasons but my reason for going is to enjoy a bit slower pace than is offered at Caesar's. As a senior, I enjoy a little less hoopla and a more reasonable atmosphere associated with my age bracket!! Unfortunately we seniors are going to lose a wonderful venue and I truly am upset with the OLG for having done what they've done. And in the process, they have cut the citie's coffers by approximately 1.5 million in revenue to which I'm sure a great many seniors have contributed. It's a lose lose situation all the way around. OLG and the City of Windsor will be the biggest losers in the end I'm sure. Unfortunately there are 215 more of the Raceway Slots employees that have now been added to the Unemployment rolls for an already downtrodden area! My thoughts and prayers are with them all.

In my opinion I think OLGC should of attempted to enhance products and services to increase attendance. The business model was stale and needed to be enhanced. Perhaps adding $2 black jack tables would of increased attendance. An individual that wants to play $2 blackjack similar to the old charity casino's, are probably not attending Caesars. Lower continuous limit tables could perhaps attract some of our neighbours north of the border.

A pilot project at Windsor and Sarnia for 6 to 12 months would of maintained employment for many in an era where job creation is very challenging.

Myself and my family have been going to the raceway ever since it opened and I cannot say how sad and angry I am with it's closing. Caesars is great for the shows but nothing else. The government says it is closing to boost revenue for Caesars but how does that help the Canadians. Any profit from raceway slots are going into the canadian coffers to help and I think that 41 million can go a long way. Any profits from caesar's are going into the pockets of the American owners of caesar's. How does that help us??? It seems to me that possibly there may have been some financial incentive from caesar's to our esteemed government for this action otherwise none of this makes sense. Why else keep somewhere like Dresden open and not Windsor - like to know how much they are bringing in. I think we should fight this and fight it hard and let Duncan know that we are tired of him and his actions and are not taking it anymore. It isn't too late for a reversal.

I have been visiting the casino at Windsor Raceway two or three times per week every since it has been open. It is small and convenient and it does not take forever to find freinds when you become seperated.
To close this facility will not help Caesar's. Why does Caesar's need help any way? They are a giant organization with many times the resources of this small competitor. You would expect that casino at the raceway would be having trouble competing.
Ceasar's must not be serving people as well as the raceway casino. They should work to solve their problems and not depend on the government to solve their problems.
If I want what Caesar's offers I can find it at three Detroit casinos and avoid the eight dollar (USD) round trip toll amd customs delays involved in going to Windsor.
Many U.S. citizens are patrons at the Windsor Raceway, and most of them, like me, will never visit Caesars. You are making one big mistake!!!
