Tax payers money and city of calgary time and energy could have been spent on many other items that have a higher value to the citizens of calgary.
Where is the accountability of the city council ?
The city council spend money where, when, and how they personally want to spend money without any accountability to the taxpayers who are the shareholders of the city of calgary.`
There needs to be public disclosure of who made the decisions and on what basis the decisions were made.
Without this public disclosure the citizens of calgary have no confidence in city council that they have learnt from their mistakes. Without learning from history the council is condemned to repeat history.
why would they not give ANY consideration about the placement of the thing. If you want support from residents of the city, give them something they CAN be proud of; the bridge is nice but how close can it get to another bridge? Who looked at that? Most people would not have minded if there was THOUGHT behind the whole thing. The City complains of not having money- well dah--- if we were all so careless with our money, it would be disastrous. Why was that more important than the airport? Who made that judgement? If it was a test, they should have failed. This bridge is actually an admission of how stupid the city council was. I feel more embarrassed than proud of the bridge.
