Both Questions in this survey miss the mark. The real question is how much charities should be permitted to spend to actively campaign on partisan political issues. Those who currently wish no limits on how much charities spend on such activities in the context of campaigns for and against further development of the tar sands might consider how their views might be effected by the following consideration. Assume a charity which has views on a highly contested issue in the public realm which expends significant funds (which are contributed to charities on a highly advantageous tax treatment for the donor) to publicize views which conflict with their own (the baby seal hunt perhaps?) Our society has long ago come to a consensus that political campaigning on partisan issues is not a charitable activity. There are good reasons for this view. Those folks who are suspicious of the "talk" from money'd interests should be concerned by tax subsidies which encourage "money" to talk.

No, it won't affect them because they are a organization that uses volunteers to protest; not paid picketers. When they protest it is for a reason, not to get their organization exposure for a useless cause.
