Which translation do you like better?

Well, since I don't know the original language, I can't really speak completely to the intent of the author. However, I like the strangeness of the first translation better than the (possibly) more intuitive but also (possibly) more translator-driven second version.

I am sure that one of the things you and your students will discuss is what it means to "translate" poetry, and how very, very difficult it is to do. That should be a great discussion. Perhaps you will use both translations, which should spark a lively debate.
