They are great once you are in the air, but Air Canadas customer service on the phone, their website and at the customer service desks in airports is the worst I have dealt with for any company in any field of business. Not to mention the cost is rediculous! The problem is that they control most of the access of the flights to rural areas. If a competator comes in, they drop their prices until the competition is out of business, then jack them up again. The other airlines (westjet etc) are great for city people but for the rest of us (and yes, we do still exist) there is simply no alternative. We are stuck with this national embarrasment until we get a govenment with the strength of character to stop bailing them out.

The focus is on the pilots, pilots pilots. Why not focus on the managments tactics of forcing this issue and not wanting to negotiate in good faith. ACs CEO ran to the anti union Conservatives to shut down a legal negotiations and is now paying the price. ACs CEO , board and managers have received bonuses and raises at the expense of union people who have taken pay cuts and concessions. Post all the boses pay and bonuses and scale that against the unions. I want to see the other side of the story. ACs boses position is wrong and indefenseable. How can Canadians defend ACs CEO possition??

The fact that CBC News has over 800

employees only shows that they are

    over-staffed & mainly with females.

Air Canada is an embarrassment and most people have no choice but to fly it. Canada needs to allow Air Emirates into Canada to create some much needed competition.

it is crazy for people to blame the pilots for the slow downs or any Air Canada Employee for work action of any kind.
Air Canada employees have given up a huge percentage of their wage for the past many years because of the companies scare tactics and a bad union representation at negotiation time. Then to make it worse the top brass gives themselves a $5mil, bonus. Talk about rubbing salt in the wound.
I am married to an Air Canada employee and I know their frustration too well.
How many people go to work and do a couple of hours of prep without getting paid, then post flight work without getting paid for their time?

People should be angry with Air Canada...not the employees.
There are not too many people I know that would put up with the crap Air Canada deals to their employees.
If it were not for the dedicated employees at Air Canada they would not have an airline at all.
If the public really knew the true story of what is going on they would have sympathy for the employees and understand. I suggest we all just book flights with another airline and show Air Canada that there is an alternative. It's easier than changing your booking and spending even more money to double book a trip.

I haven't heard anyone question the fact that ALL the flights HAD TO BE CANCELLED. CBC reported that it was only two to three times as much as normally call in sick. Surely they as responsible corporation have back ups for staff that are ill? That's why I said they were unreliable. I believe Air Canada may be playing games with the Canadian Government aka the Haper Government.
