The funny thing is, Google doesn't really care if you trust them. You need Google; they don't need you. Whether SEO's exist or not, their search engine will continue to display results. You can either adapt to their changes or pretend that you can get by on less than half the business that Yahoo/Bing sends your way.
Of course I trust them - I trust them to do whatever is in the best interest of themselves and their stockholders, and they prove that trust daily.
