It's no contest.
They used to say, that if you went above Eglinton you got a nose bleed.
That's exactly what made
Yonge and Lawrence, the great place to raise a family that it is.
While Yonge Street retains easy commercial access in the area, the trade and traffic is not nearly as intense as at Yonge and Eglinton.
Great schools, parks and easy subway access.
Yearly street parties make it neighbor friendly for one and all

I lived at Yonge and Eglinton in my twenties
Even though it was a long time ago, in the 60's it was great and fun and bars and drinking .... And it was my neighborhood, if that is what we are calling a neighborhood
However, if we mean a neighborhood for families,
That is Yonge &Lawrence
That's my vote

Y & E, Yonge and Eligible as this intersection was commonly referred to and to some degree still is to the diehards who grew up here. Y & E was the home to one one of the first Keg Steakhouse in Toronto and not the one you see now but the one located in the Yonge Eglinton Centre. It was home to Fran's Restaurant and an incredible assortment of restaurants and bars stretching along Eglinton ave in both directions from Yonge Street. It was home to one of the first disco bars called the Generator and Charlie's and Theodores if your were looking for a coffee or a beer or meeting up with your buds from the TTC. We had the PizzaPizza, Baskin and Robbins , Second Cup and Subway Restaurant a hang out for local North Toronto High School Kids who made their way from the restaurant to the school via Cancer Alley (smokers). There is still Eglinton Park with the "Arena" and the double pad ice rinks along with the baseball diamonds the "Pool" and the wading pools for the kids and the clubhouse which was home to endless kids in the area during summer vacations. We had the little farmhouse library St Clements, not the one you see today.
Growing up in Yonge and Eglinton provided kids and adults with everything they needed without having to leave the hood, that is why my vote is for Yonge and Eglinton as a top 10 Toronto neighborhood.
