Angelus was just killer and raper with twisted mind. He did not have atitude and charm, he disgusted me, Spike was the worst vampire or most evil, he was badass and funny, thats what this tornament about. not Angel not Angelus could never win from Spike in tornament for the badass Vampire. Hah, to bad Spike did not win from Damon, cause he much cooler and more funny and more charmy the Damon.

i think SPIKE is better because angel was like always quiet but SPIKE was so loud and awesome just said the truth all the time he wouldnt hide anything not like angel. I mean they are both cool just that i would choose SPIKE because hes better
Yay! I'm so glad Spike is winning! I'm sorry, but you have to love a bad guy that has you rolling in the aisles with laughter and a good guy who isn't afraid to call you on your bull!
Spike's evil antics give me the chillies in a good kind of way and evoke genuine emotion good and bad. Angel just annoys me most of the time.
SPIKE - I my opinion has become the Iconic Vampire of this new interpretation of the vampire - in both film and literature. He is a great integration of both the evil and dark metaphor of life and the potential for good and individual strength that all humans have.
The Ultimate Bad Boy is not, IMO, limited to which character is the most evil and has greatest capacity to bring death and destruction into the world - if we are going only by body count and bringing hell on earth - both would Spike and Angel would lose to Anya.

Angel was the original evil, spike was turned much later and even then he was a little puppy...Angel was the more evil of the two.
Spike was just a better person. Angel had to have a soul thrust upon him for him to be good..and that took how many years. Spike chose good of his own free will. he feel in love with Buffy and wanted to be a better man for her, that is why he went and got his soul back. Yeah, he did have the chip in his head but he just needed that little push to be the "person" he was meant to be. Even when he was first turned, his thoughts went to his sick mother and he turned her to save her. I think he was always good inside where as Angel was a sadistic psychopath who enjoyed torturing and tormenting people.

Is this who do we personally prefer or who do we prefer Buffy with? Because for me hands down it's Spike. I don't even have to think twice. Especially just knowing that David Boreanez is there reason there was no Angel movie... But I prefer Buffy and Angel. I have no rational reason. It's just beautiful.
In my opinion, there is no doubt even if we were talking of Angelus vs Spike.
Spike killed two slayers, won the heart of a third one (Buffy, when she was adult and strong and experienced), killed the anointed one, kidnapped and nearly killed Angel (two times, I believe), stopped Angelus' stupid plan of destroying the world, won against Angel for the shanshu (ok, it was a fake but he won all the same) and he never NEVER backed from a fight or a challenge. And I'm sure I'm forgetting something!
What did Angelus do?
He tortured and killed a young and fragile girl (Drusilla), stalked and played with a slayer (Buffy, when she was young and ingenue and -stupidly! - in love with broody Angel), killed a helpless woman (Jenny Calendar), harassed Spike, first when he was a fledging and then when he was trapped in a wheelchair (poor, poor Spikey ^^). Did I forget something? Oh, yes: he killed willow's fish! LOL
So, Angelus had a twisted and sick mind? Yes, he did. But that doesn't mean he was 'baddest' than Spike. Or best, IMO.
Spike wins, whatever is the contest!
I'd have to agree with some of the comments below- if it were Angelus vs. Spike, Angelus would win hands down. He was an absolute monster. But alas, Spike takes the cake
i have to agree with Garnet Spike has two Slayer kills to his name. the best Angel could do was bed one. and even Spike accomplished that same hurdle. lol
I can choose without a doubt Spike. he has always been my favorite even when he was a smaller part of "Buffy" plus he was the only reason I watched the end of "Angel". why you may ask? He's an unapoligetic bad guy who loves despite that whole soul thing lol. besides the whole holier than thou brooding bad guy bit gets really stale after the like first season *coughs* ...angel *coughs*
Wow ..... so hard to choose...... but I have to go with Spike :) Even when he's good, he's bad. Now, if it were ANGELUS vs Spike..... yeah, Angelus would win hands down. Angel, however, is too good. Kind of a bad boy, but too broody and virtuous.

Colin they weren't asking about Angelus, they asked about Angel. And anyway Angel is Angel much longer than he was Angelus. No one who broods that much could possibly be that great of a bad boy.
Plus, Spike killed 2 slayers.
Spike is much better. He mixes good and evil perfectly, while Angel is either a nancy-boy or insanely evil. The fact that even when Spike is "good" he's still The Big Bad...that's what makes him win.
Spike has already beaten Angel, when they both went looking to gain their humanity back.... and found Mountain Dew.

&& FYI: Spike is also on the shows Buffy AND Angel.
Even when he's at his best Spike is never truely good, while Angel is either good or bad.
angelus was historically the worst vamp of all time. he was downright cunning and devious. he drove drusilla to insanity before he finally killed her. spike is just a vampire. he's good and he's got attitude, but angelus was an artist. he was just plain sinister and he psychologically toyed with his victims the way a cat would a mouse.
Well Angel isn't really a bad boy... Angelus... on the other hand, WAY badder than Spike.
