With my husbands parents we went out to dinner and ordered one glass of wine. Showing them in this way that there is a difference between consumption and addiction. Act like an adult and it helps with the awkwardness of the situation.

"Do you believe in FREE agency?"
So do we, and decided to exercise it. We decided to not let others dictate how we live or what we do, we are adults and accept responsibility for OUR actions. This happens to include the consumption of alcohol. Contrary to most misinformed notions this is not the expressway to perdition. It is something that most normal adults do. We enjoy the conversation, socialization and bonding we experience. It is rather a plus in our lives. We don't push it on you, and would respect that you not push your beliefs on us.
It is like gay marriage, if you don't believe in it: don't marry a member of your same sex. If you don't believe in smoking: then don't smoke.
You can swing your arm all you want, but that right ends just about where my nose starts.

Yes, I'd try to treat it as a non-issue. Don't announce the presence of alcohol but don't hide it either. If you feel comfortable drinking in front of your parents, try to act naturally - as if it's as much of a non-issue as drinking a different flavor of soda. Good luck. If your parents are anything like mine, they'll have anticipated this.
