Robyn, I do like passage one better than two, but don't care for two sentences so close together starting with 'back'. I would suggest the second sentence start with 'Now'. The reason I prefer the first is that the language seems richer, I find the second somewhat pared back (that's rich, coming from me!) ~ Polly
