What do you think about Lakeshore's ban on smoking in outdoor public places like parks?

Glad decisions are made so quickly when pertaining to such a touchy topic. I think this should have been decided by the town of lake shore not 5 people flipping a coin. Especially a couple that are so vindictive against smoking bringing the topic to council for discussion. Cancer survivor and one losing a family member, u have my sympathies but don't feel you should have been in this argument since ur minds are not open for debate on the topic. Cancer also isn't just caused by smoking but general pollution in the air. Major companies pay to pollute but that's ok cause that goes to government pension and etc. how about I give you $5 every time I light a smoke, would that about cover it? I really don't think this by law will hold up and myself personally I would probably go right down to the town hall stand by the street out of respect for people going in and have a nice big Cuban cigar.

It is funny that some of the complaints are already bylaws:
-Smoking on/around the football field (assuming it was a school)??
-Smoking near the entrance of public buildings??
These are already bylaws that are not enforced. Enforce them and I guess your complaints go away. PERIOD. But instead you want to make more bylaws that would be enforced by officers but by people wanting to throw their two cents in all the time. Really, the guy in the parking lot smoking by his car is bothering you?? P.s. just incase you wanted to know, I am a non-smoker. Enough is enough.

People who don't smoke and are critical of people who do must remember that when their garbage is burned it causes pollution, when they drive their cars, they cause pollution and when they consume, be it food or material products, they add to the pollution problem. Let's not just single out one group of people. We are all responsible and when we start being aware of how our own behaviour affects air quality and doing something about it, then and only then, do we have the right to chastize anyone else.

smoking is a choice people make.its disgusting...its not an illness, and people who don't smoke suffer. It should be banned everywhere except the privacy of your own house.
