Do You Think It's Best To Wait And Buy The 2nd Gen iPad Mini Instead

I would suggest waiting if one already owns an iPad, since I believe, based on Apple's aggressive updates for iDevices, that the mini will have retina in the 2nd or 3rd generation. I have a 3rd gen iPad, and will wait for the fifth iteration before considering upgrading.

The best time to buy is always next year. Oh, sure, next year it might have a Retina display, but the one after that will have sub-etha-net, and the one after that will summon fairies, and the one after that will cure halitosis and restless leg syndrome, and the one after that will teleport ...

I have 2 iPad 2 right now. Good thing I didn't upgraded to iPad 3 and may not on iPad 4 too. Maybe I will wait for a lighter iPad 5 next year. Im considering iPad mini for its portability or may wait for a retina iPad mini next year too. I'm still happy with my iPad 2 and iPhone 5, so I will patiently wait.

Life is short. Why wait? And why complain about ipad3 just because they released ipad4? Get used to it -- new better and better products every 6-12 months. Jump in and upgrade once in a while and enjoy. I'm still enjoying my ipad1. But I happily moved from 4S to 5! Best phone ever!

Since my only iPad has been an original iPad, switching to a mini is a no brainier: cheap, light and better performance and screen res (very noticeable). Yes, it's not retina but sure it's much better that that of the iPad 1 and 2. Even when I'm used to my iPhone 4 retina display, the mini is anything but a bad display. It's almost a safe bet to think it will get retina status in its second or later generations. If its so and price is the same (or cheaper), I'm pretty sure I'll get one. It would be the effect gadget, combining high res and portability, weight and size. But for now, I find the mini is a great iPad...

I am an avid Apple product user and I was concerned about the news that everyone was saying about the mini not having a retina display. I saw it and played with it. The news that everyone was saying was overblown! I own the iPad 2 and iPad 3, and the mini display is better than the the 1st and 2nd Gen iPads. The mini, welcome to the iPad family! Of course, I couldn't resist, I ordered the 16gb white iPad mini this morning!
    Enjoy!

If you need one or intend on giving one as a gift, why wait? Technology changes all the time and there is something new and better out there on the horizon.

Considering I just bought the 'new' iPad 3 a month before the 'new' iPad 4, I'm now stuck with a Apple product that's only been on the market for a few months and is now discontinued. So yea, I'd wait this one out too.

^ I'm with Anthony. There's no way I will go back to non-retina especially after putting so much money into my iDevices.

I'll wait until the 3rd or 4th generation.

I'm gonna wait until it at least gets a retina display once you use it you can't downgrade easily.
