That was such a hard year, Jualianne Moore was simply amazing in not only far from heaven but in The Hours too, though I have to disagree, Nicole Kidman was the best on The Hours, better than Moore and even better than Streep, she totally deserved that Oscar, she was so unrecognizable and played beautifuly an extraordinary script.

That Julianne Moore is still Oscar-less is a crime; and she was superb in Far From Heaven; but for me, Diane Lane was easily the most deserving that year - the train ride home scene alone cemented it for me. The movie itself is mediocre, but Lane elevates everything about it.

Nicole Kidman deserved that Oscar, hands down. The train station scene alone guaranteed her the Oscar. Julianne Moore in Far From Heaven was fine. She was great, but not memorable. I found her acting in that movie a little stiff.

The best line-up this category has seen in the last 10 years. All of the performances were so good. I was rooting for Nicole Kidman because was robbed the previous year but Moore and Lane gave such authentic strong performances that it was a tie for me.
