A few suggestions.
I would consider lifting the carpet and lino ( try a hairdryer to soften the glue) and replace with wood if you can or wood effect lino is surprisingly effective and much cheaper.
maybe get a nice rug for your living room.
The sliding doors and baseboards and removing bed get a man ( have you tried no more nails type glue?)
Decorating. its not so difficult. I must have decorated about 40 rooms.
