iPad Mini...

The non-retina display is good. Why wait? People drool over retina ... it's good but mostly unnecessary.

What's wrong with doing both? I'll probably get an LTE mini, and then, when the Retina model comes out, I will pass the original one to my wife and use the retina myself. What is the second-generation iPad mini still doesn't have a Retina display?

I would wait for the Retina Display one. If what Apple did with the iPad 4 is any indication of future products, we may see the new iPad mini within 8 months or so. It could be a product that Apple releases two of every year to have the competitive advantage. It might seem unlikely, but it's definitely not out of the question.

Also, the next generation will feature the Retina Display, probably a thicker body, better camera and hopefully the A6 chip (or A6X).

I can live with the resolution and non-retina has a better battery life which is more important to me.
