Are you sad that David Beckham has announced he's going to stop playing for the Los Angeles Galaxy?

Eighty percent say, "No, no will notice he's gone." How ironic. You have to notice he was even here, first.

That's what made David Beckham a tremendous investment on the part of MLS. The league may have grown by seven teams, built another wave of soccer-specific stadiums and passed the NBA and NHL in average attendance without him during this period. But he forced sports fans in the U.S. who are ambivalent--or worse--toward soccer to realize it was happening.

PLEEZ . . . . . . . . . It's all about baseball and basketball in this town. If we would ever get a football team, you could add that to the mix. Soccer is not even on the sports radar yet for this town except for a few communities.
