Sir John A. MacDonald's corrupt relationship with the railroad barons, and it's resulting crimes perpetuated upon the Native Indians and the Metis population in Manitoba would have had him up on charges of CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY!

Is it just me or is the world sadly wanting for a hero like MacDonald, Lincoln or Churchill.

MacDonald was a scoundrel and a statesman at the same time.

Theres no one alive today that was around during Sir John A's Prime Ministership, so how can you fairly vote on who was the greatest PM ever?
Having said that, both these fellows were a lot better than Trudeau, who for some reason people still think was some kind of a saint!

If you visit Charlottetown and see where MacDonald cobbled together the country and Kingston where he lived before that and read his life story it really is compelling. the odds he overcame seemed quite significant. My guess is that Pearson would vote for MacDonald though his diplomatic feats were also considerable. Reading their biographies is almost sad when you consider the riffraff that leads us today.
