We staff Regualr Shifts, We do allow shift swaps, and if shift swaps are done, we have to make sure that on the Hoiday itself the person we are switching with is avalible for any call outs as well. Our Supervisor does not want someone who has the day off to be called in because some is sick and a shift swap is done and it cant be covered. So far this has worked for us.

The holiday shifts are in a regular shift rotation. However the senior dispatchers, aka supervisors, request them off on a regular basis every year. I'm a senior dispatcher and do not. I think it's quite inconsiderate of the others to ask for the holiday season off year after year. This has been happening for 11 yrs.

We work regular shifts but employees can put in for the day off if another volunteers for the overtime or we can also do employee switches. On Thanksgiving and Christmas, along with our normal pay and 8 hours comp time, employees that actually work those 2 days get an extra 4 hours comp time.

jc is right there are several answers to this one. Regular shifts, but TC's might request the Holiday off then it is filled either by Part-time or O.T. in my department. If unable to fill the request is denied.
