In times of austerity, I appreciate some measure should be taken to plug the holes but the child benefit cutbacks is going to be administration cost for the government and for the people who don't opt out if they earn more than £60k (on top of clawing back the benfit). This in the long run may far outweigh the saving to be gained.

I feel that child benefit should only be available for up to 2 children maximum like in certain countries. This should not be automatically given to breeders of more, as many have no intention of going to work but are a drain as they rely on child benefits, housing benefits, child tax credit, free school dinners, etc . to support them. Why should we penalise working people who have career aspirations ( and some lucky ones earn more than £50k) as these people must have costly childcare as they must work full time / long hours to earn these salaries, pay mortgages / inflated rents, increasing travel cost, etc t?

It's also unfair to claw back if one of the parents earn over £50k (if the other partner has taken a back seat to look after the family or take up a part time job at minimum wage) when 2 parents keep it if both earn under £50k?

I voted for conservative because Labour ' taxed aspirational' people and created a generation of people who want to be sympathised on to gain votes...

I think they are taking off child benefits for the wrong people. It's the baby makers who live in council houses and have more than 2 children just waiting to be fed by the benefit system that should lose out. It would save a lot of money and resources (school, free day care and etc)

£50K a year is a lot of money to most people. It's ridiculous to say that doing without the child benefit at this salary would cause hardship. I suppose that doing without their smartphone or their HD TV or their subscription to SKY may also be considered a hardship? Stop moaning and contribute what you can.

Although they are only cutting back Child Benifits with people who are earning over £50, 000 a year i still think this is a Bad idea. The price of living is going up however they still need to cut peoples money. People are struggiling as it is. The government do not care about anyone but themselfs if they did they would do more to help rather than cutting our money but still putting the prices of things up!
