I'd like to see Ph'D programs for those interested in ministry and Youth Advocacy. Have some emphasis on Sociological/Economic/Practical concerns of youth, talk about Youth Law and how minors are in trouble, and seek to find solutions that help young people grow and get beyond difficulty despite contexts.

    Yes and yes.

I like the conferences, especially NYWC, for the refreshing, to see Im not alone in this, and for the tools and getaway. Plus I love serving other youth workers. I do also enjoy the smaller conferences though, Orange Tour and YS Palooza since they are different times from NYWC.

That said, a mentor locally would be amazing. In some churches I am told this should and does happen from the Senior Pastor or people have local Youth Leader Networks or other churches youth pastors they talk too, but in a small church setting and an overtasked Pastoral team, its few and far between.

The chances of getting Doug Fields or the like to mentor me one on one? Not requested or realistic, but the blogs are helpful as are the big, small and uncoferenced.

I do like whats coming up in Lubbock March 19th, "The Unconference" I have heard about.

I think that if we can continue doing conferences, collectives, etc than the more the better. Big church certainly isnt going to ask us what our needs are.

After 25 + years in UTH ministry, never had someone in my life as a mentor, someone to talk to etc. I have young yps wanting a similar opportunity with me but how can the unmentored mentor? A relationship like this would be huge for me...way more than a conference.
